Volunteer and Help Us

Want to improve your CV, meet new people and have fun whilst supporting the work of Dovetail? Why not consider becoming a volunteer for us? We have a few volunteers without whom our outreach programme could not successful to support Dovetail’s work; bringing healing and wholeness to the local community.

Some give us two hours a week, others give us 20, but no matter what, they are all making a vital contribution towards the charity’s work.

So why not turn your everyday into something that makes a difference.

As little as two hours a week volunteering in our dining center could transform a person’s life, as well as bringing fulfilment, enjoyment and development to yours.

Role Title:
Catering Volunteer

Hillingdon Park Baptist Church

Responsible to:
Craig Graham, (Catering Manager)

Purpose/Summary of Role:
Assist in the running of our busy and popular Dinning Centre, providing tea and coffee and a variety of meals to the local community every weekday.

Key tasks:

  • To help in preparation of the dining area for lunch.
  • To assist, serve and spend time with customers.
  • To help with food preparation.
  • Serve food and beverages to customers.
  • To assist with washing up and drying.
  • To help ensure food safety and food hygiene at all times.

Desired skills and experience:

  • Customer services experience
  • Friendly manner, welcoming and efficient
  • Reliable and trustworthy
  • Sensitive and tactful nature
  • Methodical and organised
  • Ability to work on own initiative

Time Commitment:

  • 2-3 hours per week
  • Any weekday
  • Sessions are 10am to 2pm
  • We are flexible with hours and days

Skills and Qualifications:
You do not need to have any related qualifications for this role but you should be friendly, reliable, trustworthy and have good communication skills.

Training and Support
You will be given induction training into the various aspects of the work.You will receive specific training for your role and ongoing support from Craig Graham.

Reimbursement of expenses:
A full meal is provided to volunteers after work is done, free of charge.
